Step 1 of 5
1How would you like us to see your move?

Why we ask, and what each one involves

In person. We walk the home together, look at the access at both ends and answer your questions face to face. It is the most accurate way to price a move, and what we recommend for larger homes and heavy specialty items.

By phone. Good for smaller moves, storage, loading help and packing, or when you would rather talk it through first.

Video walkthrough. We send you a secure link. You record a 5 minute walkthrough on your own time, room by room, and a coordinator reviews it and emails you a written quote.

Back to Basics checklist. Tap what is moving, room by room, and add a few photos if you like. Your list saves as you go, so you can finish later or on another device. A coordinator prices it and emails your written quote.

2How do we reach you?

By giving us your phone number, you agree that a MileWay Moving And Storage coordinator may call you at that number about your estimate and your move.

Why we ask

A coordinator calls your phone with any questions, and your walkthrough link and written quote go to your email. We never sell your details; we share them only with the services that run our business, as our Privacy Policy describes.

3Where and when?

Why we ask

The ZIP codes tell us how far the truck travels, which helps set your price. Street addresses can wait, but we need them before move day for your agreement and your crew's route. The date and size tell us which crew and truck to hold for you.

4Anything we should know? optional

Tap anything that applies. Heavy or awkward items flagged now mean the right crew and equipment from the start.

Please do not type gate or door codes here. Your coordinator will ask for them by phone before move day.

5Check it over and send

Here is what you told us. Tap any line to change it.

Everything you typed stays put.

Free: a utility and settling-in guide for your new address (optional)

Electric, gas, internet and trash compared for your new ZIP, plus the nearest groceries, pharmacies, urgent care and more. See what is in it.

Skip it if you like. It is never required.

Ask Us Something Else
What are the ways to get an estimate?
Four, and you pick: in person at your home, by phone, with a video walkthrough you record on your phone, or with the Back to Basics room-by-room checklist. In person or by phone, you usually get your estimate on the spot or by email right after. A video walkthrough or a checklist comes back as a written quote by email, usually within a few business hours. Every estimate is free, and nothing is booked until you say so.
How does the 5 minute video walkthrough work?
Send the estimate request and your secure link is emailed to you straight away, and texted as well if you tick the texting box. Open it on your phone whenever it suits you and walk through your home room by room, showing us what is moving. It takes about five minutes, and nobody needs to be on a call with you or come to your home. A coordinator reviews the video and emails you a written quote, usually within a few business hours. Walkthroughs sent in the evening or on a weekend are priced first thing the next business morning.
How much does a local move cost?
It depends on how much is moving, the access at both homes, how much you want us to pack and the day you pick. A one bedroom apartment with everything boxed is a very different job from a four bedroom house that needs full packing, so we do not publish a flat rate. We look at your move first, then give you a free written estimate with every charge on its own line. Book online from your emailed quote and save 5 percent. The discount applies whichever way you get your estimate, to local moves of 40 miles or less booked directly from your emailed quote. It does not combine with other offers.
Do you do long distance moves?
Yes, anywhere in Minnesota, from the metro to Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud or the lake country. Our own crew loads, drives and delivers your move, and the delivery window is agreed in writing before the move.
Do I have to use every service, or can I pick just what I need?
You pick. Some customers want us to pack, load, drive and unpack everything. Others have it all boxed and just want movers and a truck for a few hours, or only loading help for a truck they rented. We plan the move around what you want and quote it that way.
Do you move one bedroom apartments, or only large homes?
Both. The same crew standards, the same protection and the same care apply whether it is a studio apartment, a condo, a townhome or a five bedroom house.
What is MileWay responsible for if something is lost or damaged?
You choose one of three levels of protection on your agreement before move day, and your written quote shows what each costs. 1. Standard protection, included at no extra charge: $1.25 for each pound of weight in the shipment. It applies if you make no other choice. 2. Full Value Protection, at an added cost: you declare the value of your shipment, at least $10,000 or $6.00 per pound of shipment weight, whichever is greater, and our liability goes up to that value; the charge depends on the value and the deductible you pick. 3. Released value, at no charge: 60 cents per pound per article, and only if you write that choice on the agreement yourself. Protection is our liability as your mover, not insurance.
How far in advance should I book my move?
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most local moves. The end of the month, the first weekend of the month and the summer season fill up fastest, so book earlier if your date falls there. We do take short notice moves when we have a crew available, so it is always worth calling.
Can you store my things between closing dates?
Yes. We can store your things for up to 90 days as part of your move, then deliver them when the new place is ready. Everything is listed and labeled when it goes in, and access is by appointment. We cannot store perishables, plants, hazardous materials, firearms, cash, jewelry or important papers. Your storage agreement has the full list.
What will you not move?
Anything flammable, corrosive or explosive, including propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, aerosols and ammunition. Also perishable food and, on longer runs, live plants. Cash, jewelry, prescriptions and important documents should ride with you rather than on the truck.
Do you move on weekends?
Yes. Saturday is the most requested moving day, so book it early; a weekday date is usually easier to get. Sunday and evening moves can often be arranged, especially for offices and apartment buildings with restricted move-in windows.
