Osseo homes, and what that means on the day.

A small, older town with homes from the 1920s to the 1960s on a compact street grid, plus senior apartments and townhomes near Central Avenue.

Central Avenue is a real main street with angled parking and a farmers market in season. A move on or near it goes best with an early start and a truck spot on the side street.

Parking, permits and buildings

Getting the truck to the door in Osseo.

Osseo declares a snow emergency when 2 or more inches of snow have accumulated, measured at the Public Works parking lot. During a snow emergency, street parking remains allowed in residential areas, but a vehicle must be moved within 24 hours after plows have gone around it. In the downtown Central Avenue business district, parking is prohibited for one night from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. City code bars parking at any time in an alley right of way and limits street parking to 24 hours. It does allow a truck to park temporarily in a no parking zone between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on any business day to load or unload where there is no other access. No truck longer than 18 feet may use the city's designated diagonal parking.

Based on the city's own rules as of September 2026. City rules change, so check with the city before move day.

Questions

Moving in Osseo: common questions.

Can a moving truck use Osseo's angled parking spaces?
Osseo City Code says no truck longer than 18 feet may park diagonally, and all other parking must be parallel to the curb. Tell your coordinator about your street when we go over your move so the crew knows where the truck will go.
What happens if Osseo declares a snow emergency on moving day?
Street parking remains allowed in residential areas, but a vehicle must be moved within 24 hours after plows go around it. In the downtown business district, parking is prohibited for one night from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and the city tries to declare a snow emergency no later than 8:00 p.m.
Can the truck load from the alley behind my home?
Osseo City Code bars parking at any time within any part of an alley right of way. The code does let a truck park temporarily in a no parking zone between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on a business day to load or unload when there is no other access to the property.

Pick only the parts you need.

Each of these is available on its own. Plenty of people book loading and unloading only and drive the truck themselves.
