Ask Us Something Else
How does the 5 minute virtual walkthrough work?
Submit the estimate request and we text or email you a secure link within seconds. You open it on your phone whenever it is convenient and walk through your home room by room, showing us what is moving. It usually takes about five minutes. Nobody needs to be on the call with you and nobody needs to come to your home. As soon as you submit the video, our estimating system prices the move and emails you a written quote, usually inside ten minutes. If you want to text with us we will ask permission first, and you can reply STOP at any time.
Is there a discount for using the virtual walkthrough?
Yes. A virtual walkthrough gets us an accurate scope quickly and with far less of our time, so we pass part of that back. Quotes produced from a virtual walkthrough include 10 percent off when you book directly from that emailed quote. The discount applies to local moves of 40 miles or less, and it does not stack with other offers.
How much does a local move cost?
It depends on how much is moving, how long it takes, and what you want us to handle. A one bedroom apartment with everything already boxed is a very different job from a four bedroom house that needs full packing. We do not publish a flat rate because it would be wrong for most homes. We look at your move first, then give you a real number.
Do I have to use every service, or can I pick just what I need?
You pick. Some customers want us to pack everything, wrap it, load it, drive it and put it back together at the other end. Others have it all boxed already and just want movers and a truck for a few hours. Some only need loading help because they rented their own truck. We scope the move around what you want and quote it that way.
Do you move one bedroom apartments, or only large homes?
Both, and a large share of our work is apartments, condos and townhomes. The same crew standards, the same protection and the same care apply whether it is a studio or a five bedroom house.
Is my furniture insured while you are moving it?
MileWay is licensed, insured and bonded, and every move includes the basic carrier coverage required by law. Additional valuation coverage is available and we will walk you through the options before your move date. Certificates of insurance for apartment buildings and property managers are available on request.
How far in advance should I book my move?
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most local moves. The end of the month, the first weekend of the month and the summer season fill up fastest, so book earlier if your date falls there. We do take short notice moves when we have a crew available, so it is always worth calling.
Can you store my things between closing dates?
Yes. We handle storage from a single day up to several months. Your items are loaded once, held securely, and delivered into the new place when you are ready, so you are not paying for two separate moves and a rented unit in between.
What will you not move?
Anything flammable, corrosive or explosive, including propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, aerosols and ammunition. Also perishable food and, on longer runs, live plants. Cash, jewelry, prescriptions and important documents should ride with you rather than on the truck.
Do you move on weekends?
Yes. Saturdays are our busiest day of the week, so those dates go first. Sunday and evening moves can often be arranged, especially for offices and apartment buildings with restricted move-in windows.
